Hongqiao Airport: find the right terminal
In this guide
Hongqiao Airport is SHA. Hongqiao Railway Station is a separate destination within the wider hub. Check which terminal your flight uses before planning your route.
Terminal 1 has Metro Line 10; Terminal 2 has Lines 2 and 10. Follow the signs for your actual destination.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2
According to the Airport Authority, Terminal 1 is served by Metro Line 10, while Terminal 2 is served by Lines 2 and 10. Pick the destination station and final walk using your accommodation's address.
Do not assume every service runs as late as your flight arrives. Check the departure board or ask station staff before buying a ticket.
If you are taking a taxi
Use the official queue shown on terminal signs. Keep your hotel's Chinese name and address open, ask for a receipt and confirm you can pay. Travel time depends on traffic and your destination; a generic city-center estimate can be misleading.
If you have a train to catch
Your train booking should say the departure station. Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, Shanghai Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station are different places. Follow signs for the railway station only if that is where your train departs.
Allow time for walking, security and boarding. Keep the original identity document used for your ticket available. Check your operator's check-in and ticket instructions before setting a tight connection.
If your next flight departs from Pudong
Check the airport code on both flight bookings. The Airport Link is a transport option between Hongqiao and Pudong; terminal transfers and airline deadlines still need to be included. Ask your airline whether luggage is checked through and whether you must collect and check it in again.
